What is a portrait consultation?
Before we take any portraits of you and your family we invite you to visit the studio for a 30 min portrait consultation. We will show you samples of our work and the different presentations available to showcase your portraits. We will advise you on what to wear, discuss location options and will give you a quote to take away with you so you have no surprises later on when ordering your portraits. Not everyone who will be included in the portrait session needs to attend the portrait consultation. Please bring your diary to book your portrait session.
Where can we have our portraits taken?
There are many options to choose from. We are lucky to live so close to the beach, which provides beautiful surroundings. Maybe a park, reserve or the countryside would suit your family best. Then again the best place of all could be at your doorstep - home sweet home. When you visit the studio for your portrait consultation, we will show you samples of our work to help with your decision.
How many people can we include in our portrait session?
As many, as you would like. We know it can take some organising to get family together, especially if you live in different parts of the country. However we recommend you try to include extended family such as grandparents, aunties and uncles. We will capture individuals of all, parents with children, grandparents with grandchildren and each individual family. You are also welcome to include pets in your portrait session as they are part of the family and the kids will love having them involved.
What do we wear for our portrait session?
Your portraits will be an expression of who you are and although we give guidance as to what to wear, you can be yourself. So if you love the funky retro style with all those bright coloured patterns, then go for it we are here to capture you as you are. We do however, recommend that you do not wear logos or strips. For the woman wearing makeup, we recommend that you apply it thicker than you would normally.
When do we get to view our portraits?
Within 3 weeks of your portrait session, you will enjoy viewing a slideshow of your portraits. Viewing your portraits is the easy part, choosing your favourites are the hard part. We recommend that before your viewing session, you spend some time thinking about where you would like to display your personal works of art (wall space, side tables & mantelpieces), take measurements of those spaces and if possible take a photo with your home camera so we can help you design a unique piece to fit that space. Your portraits will last a lifetime so we insist on having all decision makers present at the viewing session. If a second viewing is required a viewing fee of $50 will be charged.
What days do you photograph and how long does it take?
We photograph location portraits on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. We are closed Sundays. The best time for location portraits is either early morning or early evening. Studio portraits are taken on Tuesday through to Saturday. Your portrait session can take between 40 minutes and 1 hour. Contact the studio to book your portrait session.
What happens if it is raining on the day we plan to have our portrait sessions?
We would like to think that it will not rain on your planned portrait session, however we all know the weather is very unpredictable. At your portrait consultation we can arrange a wet weather venue just in case, otherwise we are more than happy to re-schedule another portrait session with you
What does it cost?
Location portrait session is $150 and a Studio portrait session is $95.This includes the portrait consultation, portrait experience and viewing session plus a FREE 6x 9 desk portrait. If you require a second viewing session then there will be a viewing fee of $50.

Do you photograph weddings?
Absolutely. We love photographing people at different stages of their journey through life. Weddings are an extended session of family portraits with lots of emotion & detail. If you have a family celebration (engagement, anniversary or birthdays), we would love the opportunity to be apart of it. For more information view the wedding section.
