They supply clothing from newborn – 10 years with labels including Bobux (NZ made) Kaloo, Motion Wear, Emile Et Rose plus more and they also have some really funky little shoes and toys.

Owners Alan & Bojana were happy for me to display some portraits of a few ‘very gorgeous’ little ones which went up today and if you make a purchase you may be in for a nice little surprise :-)

Family Portrait Month Fundraiser – portrait photographer

Monday, March 1st, 2010

I am so happy to bring you FAMILY PORTRAIT MONTH this March to help raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House Auckland who provide shelter and support for families who must travel because the specialist treatment their child urgently requires isn’t available to them nearby.

Last year I had the pleasure of visiting the Ronald McDonald House in Auckland to see how it is set up and what is available to children and their families. I was blown away by the amazing people who are involved with the house from the staff to many volunteers. Every family is given their own room and bathroom, there are clean and modern cooking and laundry facilities, TV and computer rooms, fitness centre and lots more. On a weekly basis they have Family dinner, where volunteers come in and prepare the evening meal for all families to enjoy. This is also a great time for all families going through these difficult times to get to know one another and form great friendships.

The house is there to support all family members, so for siblings the house is equipped to keep them entertained such as the computer and TV rooms, art classes, playgrounds and also a classroom where the staff work closely with their teacher at their own school so they are able to keep up to date and not full behind.

Last week I also had the pleasure of meeting a the wonderful Roads-Carlin family who have spent many times at the house for their daughter Victoria (12) who at age 10 was diagnosed with a brain tumor. They said without the Ronald McDonald House in Auckland, they could never have afforded the constant trips & accommodation, which would have put a huge strain on all members of their family. Victoria is such a beautiful, polite young girl, who enjoys school and is looking forward to learning how to surf. Along with her sister Hannah (9) they both enjoyed all the activities that are provided at the house and have made many friends along the way.

Please help me raise funds for this amazing house – the Ronald McDonald House. For every portrait session booked in March at the price of just $49.95, I will donate your portrait session fee to the House. Portraits may be taken in another month but must be booked in March.

So feel free to share this with your friends on facebook, email to family & friends – Lets spread the word :-) And leave a comment as I would love to hear what you think.

How will you remember your family?

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

We have just got back from spending a few days up at the family farm, and while I was there I came across some of my Dad’s slides he had taken in his younger days :-)  Excited about my find, I set up Dads old Plus-jector that night while my nana was over for dinner, so she too could enjoy remembering those times. It was so cool to hear all the little stories that came with each slide, too see my grandparents, my parents, my aunties & uncles & my sisters all included in this tray of memories.

What really stood out when listening to each story, were the people included in each slide,  and what they were doing at that time, who they looked like & where they are now. It was interesting to see some of who were in our lives then are no longer with us, but it is great to have these images to remember them and share stories of them with my daughter so she too can carry on these memories.

After this little trip down memory lane, it has made me want to take more pictures than ever before, to create more memories for myself & my family and for other families, so they too can share their stories with future generations.

Do you have a special family photo? If so, I would love to see it.  Simply become a fan on facebook (click the link on the right) and add your photo to the ‘Special Family Photo’ album and one lucky person will win a Family Portrait session, a 16″ x 24″ Canvas Art Piece, plus a $150 Gift Voucher to give to a friend. Expires 31st January 2010.
